Pancake House Spaghetti

Saturday, June 28, 2008

I love, love, love the spaghetti of Pancake House. It's got just the right taste, simply perfect. Not too sweet like all those traditional Filipino spaghetti which you can eat mostly in children's parties, nor too tomatoey like the Italian version, bolognese.

Several Pancake House branches, a few years ago, seemed to experiment with a different meat sauce, which did not appeal to my taste buds at all. I'm not sure if it was just my imagination, although it being served in different branches made it a not so good reality. Thank goodness, they reverted back to the original recipe.

And the best branch of Pancake House, I would say, is the one in Alabang Town Center. I have visited many branches of Pancake House but the one in ATC is really worth mentioning. And mind you, I am not the only one with this opinion. Lots of my friends, relatives, family friends, and even colleagues all agree that the ATC branch definitely is special. Although their menu is no different from other branches', there's something in the way they cook, perhaps, I really don't know, and I cannot offer any explanation why theirs is distinct. It just it.

Views On Happiness

Saturday, June 14, 2008

I have read several inspirational, motivational and self-enriching books like The Power of Positive Thinking by Napoleon Hill, The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin S. Sharma, Law of Attraction by Michael J. Losier, Your Best Life Now by Joel Osteen, and Being Happy by Andrew Matthews, to name a few.

These books have common messages and lessons, though written and presented in many different ways. One of these is that in order to attain what you want in life, you have to stay positive and practice everyday gratitude. Be thankful for what you have now while aspiring and believing that what you want is on its way to you. Positive feelings and gratitude tend to magnetize your thoughts and dreams faster into becoming reality. One way of being positive and to feel this gratitude is by being happy.

Happiness, though sought after by many and thought to be elusive by some, is not really unattainable. It is not something that you can have because of another thing or another person. It is not, I will be happy when or if. Happiness is a decision and not an outcome of a situation. You have to decide for yourself that you will be happy today, that you will not be swayed by trivial things that are trying to edge negativity into your life.

Often times people attempt to live their lives backwards. They try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want, so they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first decide to be happy so you'll have the motivation to be who you really are, do what you need to do, in order to achieve what you want.

here's an easy-to-make pasta for non-cookers like me. i've discovered a simple way of making delicious pasta in around ten minutes. here's my very first recipe...

Entrepgirl's Hot & Spicy Tuna Carbonara

Ingredients:
1 pack San Remo Carbonara pack
310 ml water
125 ml milk (full for non-dieters or skim/non-fat for the health conscious)
2 tbsp butter
1 can Century Tuna hot & spicy

Procedure:
Put the water, milk and butter in a medium saucepan. Let it boil. Pour contents of the San Remo Carbonara pack into the boiling mixture. Stir continuously while boiling. Let it simmer for about 5-7 mins or until pasta is tender. Open the Century Tuna hot & spicy, drain the oil and throw away the leaf. Shred the tuna a bit then add to the pasta. Mix it in and enjoy the dish!
