In the mood for some shawarma...
When I was about to go to BGC a couple of weeks back, I asked my husband if he wanted something from there. He told me he wanted some food, something for an afternoon snack. I immediately thought about Shawarma Guys, and how many of my friends were raving about it.
I was pretty familiar with its location since I already saw it before, when I dined at the Early Bird Breakfast Club, which was just a stone's throw away. The place was pretty big for a shawarma joint, but I heard it could get pretty crowded at night; hence, maybe the need for such space. Good thing I always have my trusty Note 2 with me so I could get some food shots whenever I don't have my DSLR.
Chicken Shawarma (P140)
I originally wanted to order the Beef Shawarma, just to get a gauge on how this one compares with other ones I've tried before. Too bad, they've run out of stock that time; the URBN Bar crowd seemed to have wiped out their supply just the night before. So I opted for the Chicken Shawarma instead. Large chicken pieces (as opposed to others' small diced ones) are wrapped in a soft pita bread, together with some veggies and creamy garlic sauce. Though I'm not one for persian/indian/mediterranean-inspired food, this I have to say, was pretty good.
Sisig Shawarma (P140)
The moment I tasted the Sisig Shawarma, I stopped feeling bad about not having the Beef. Crunchy and meaty, this flavorful variant had some delicious fat bits to go with all the porcine meat. A little spicy note even greeted you at the end of each bite. Douse some yogurt sauce for more depth of flavor, or if you want a bit more kick, get some salsa dip in it.
My husband enjoyed this so much, and couldn't get over how good the pita bread is. I couldn't agree more. I'm still curious about the Beef Shawarma, but I don't think I'll go back without having the Sisig Shawarma again. Plus, I'm also curious about their Kebab Meals.
