Breads that make mornings that much brighter.

Yamato box of breads

When we dined at Mitsuyado Sei-Men, we were given a box of lovely breads to try. This came from its adjoining bakery café, Yamato. Both are owned by the UCC Group, by the way. I wanted to go see the café, but by the time we were done with dinner, it was already closed.

It wasn't until the next morning that I got to shoot the breads and pastries. The air was cool, the light was nice, and opening the box sent a heavenly scent that titillated the senses. It was unfortunate that I didn't get the names of these golden brown gems. I think there was a chocolate croissant thrown in, as well as an apple strudel, but for what it's worth, every single one of them was really good.

Pillow soft breads caress the mouth with each bite, the fillings of some, warming the palate. I was actually amazed, given that they weren't baked that morning; yet somehow, they managed to retain that freshness. The puff pastries were perfectly light and flaky, and the fillings, whether it be tuna or apples, were abundant. Good enough even without reheating, but when I did, the bread was even more delightful. For that, I liked Yamato way better than BreadTalk.

I just love looking at this. My senses get all ignited when I do.

Most of their breads are priced at P50, not bad at all. I'm looking forward to trying more of them. There are just far too many intriguing goodies inside that bakery of theirs. I fervently wish there was a Yamato branch here in the South. They'd definitely give BreadTalk and Tous Les Jours a run for their money.
