I didn't know Italianni's served breakfast items, did you?

Well, at least the Greenbelt and Bonifacio High Street branches do. And I don't think I'm the only one surprised by the newfound fact. After our body realignment session at Karada, we headed to nearby Italianni's for brunch.

There is a wide array of breakfast dishes offered by this popular Italian restaurant: local favorites such as Primera Tapa, Boneless Bangus Belly, Arroz Caldo Supreme, and Sinful Champorado; continental specials like Classic Eggs Benedict and Italianni's Waffle; sweet and savory crepes (e.g., Chocolate Mango Crepe, Chicken Pesto Shitake Crepe, etc.), and freshly baked pastries such as Blueberry Muffin and Almond Puff.

While they have indeed a copious number of brekkie items, let me focus on the newer ones -- Breakfast Creations by Chef Josh Boutwood. All these items are served with complimentary coffee.

Italianni's Classic Croquette Madame
Croquette Madame (P275)

This herb-encrusted French classic has smoked ham and grilled cheese, topped with a sunny side up egg that slowly runs with a gentle impalement of a fork.

Italianni's Classic Eggs Florentine
Classic Eggs Florentine (P275)

Two soft boiled eggs nestle on a bed of spinach and toasted English muffin, and poured with creamy Parmesan sauce. The creamy golden sunshine escapes the wobbly egg whites slowly to stimulate the senses, and the mix of the yolk with the rich sauce was such a delicious revelation.

Italianni's Homemade Corned Beef Brisket with Potato Omelette
Homemade Corned Beef Brisket with Potato Omelet (P295)

Definitely a far cry from canned corned beef, this house specialty corned beef deceivingly looks dry and tough, but tenderness ensues when bitten into. Large cubes of Mediterranean potato omelette(?) curb the robust and slightly salty taste of the brisket, and some spinach and a sunny fried egg are thrown in for good measure.

Italianni's Banana and Walnuts Pancake
Banana and Walnuts (P275)

If you crave for something sweet in the morning, their pancakes are a real treat. There are three variants available: Banana and Walnuts, Chocolate and Orange, and Classic Blueberry; we opted for the former (although the Chocolate and Orange sounds like a really interesting combination). The pancakes were light and fluffy---a plus in my book---devoid of heavy batter taste. A globe of vanilla ice cream, dices of bananas, and roasted walnuts gather around the top, drizzled with maple syrup and a smattering of powdered sugar.

Italianni's Prosciutto
Prosciutto (P350)

This particular dish is not included in their breakfast menu, but Len of The Mommist, my Karada and brunch buddy for the day, has a particular predilection for prosciutto. Undulated strips of prime Italian air-dried ham are served with a motley of cherry tomatoes, olives and grapes. Such soft, salty solution for that porcine craving.

Italianni's fruit shake
Fruit Shakes

To wash down these moreish morsels, Italianni's has fruit shakes and healthy drinks guaranteed to refresh after a relaxing (or even hectic) morning. You can choose from Pineapple, Green Mango, Strawberry, Four Seasons, Watermelon, Grape, or Ripe Mango, or you can be more adventurous and try their Ginger Watermelon, Salsa Verde, Wheatgrass Pineapple, Carrot and Ginger, Tomato Salad Juice, Sweet Melon Italiano or Nutty Apple.
