Pancake House Spaghetti
One very fond memory I have as a kid was when we'd usually go to eat at Pancake House beside the old Magallanes Theater after hearing mass. The restaurant exuded a homey feel, with its backdrop of classic movie posters, a decor tradition still in place with all of its branches today. Its booth couches were donned in stripes of pink and orange, and the lights provided a dim and cozy atmosphere.

Pancake House Blueberry Pancakes
The restaurant is famous for their pancakes. Powdered sugar drizzled on top of  light and fluffy pancakes with whipped butter on the side. From cheese and chocolate chip to ones with fruits like bananas and peaches, you'll  surely find one that fits your mood.

Pancake House Blueberry Pancakes filling
Served fresh and hot, their Blueberry Pancakes (P147 two pieces; P173 three pieces) overflow with yummy blueberry filling, and topped with sweet blueberry syrup, it's really berry heavenly (excuse the pun). I love how their whipped butter is so light and easy to spread. Though I don't order their pancakes every time I visit, I'm always tempted to do so as I read the description of each variant on the menu.

Pancake House Grilled Cheese Sandwich
As their tagline goes, they're more than just pancakes. And their Grilled Cheese Sandwich (P121) is just as delightful with its hot, melted cheese in between perfectly grilled slices of white bread. It comes with a potato salad, a few pieces of pineapple chunks and some pickles on the side. I love their potato salad with its bite sized potatoes mixed with the right amount of mayo and pickle relish. Other sandwiches include Grilled Ham and Cheese, Tuna and Chicken Asparagus.

Pancake House Mushroom Omelette
The Mushroom Omelette (P126) is quite nice mainly because of its generous amount of juicy mushrooms wrapped in that well-cooked pancake of eggs, which isn't dry at all.

Pancake House Ham and Cheese Omelette
I prefer the Ham and Cheese Omelette (P126). It also has heaps of ham and cheese, and that's another thing I love about Pancake House. They don't scrimp on their ingredients. Though I would have preferred for the blocks of cheese to be more melted.

Pancake House Spaghetti 2
And of course, it would be a mortal sin not to pay tribute to my all-time favorite, the Pancake House Spaghetti with Meat Sauce (P134 regular; P236 large). I loved it from the first moment I've tasted it in their first branch more than two decades ago. I loved it then, and I still love it now. In fact, I have yet to taste a spaghetti that would replace that of Pancake House's in my gastronomical heart.

Pancake House Jams
It used to be that the jams and syrup were included in the tables' centerpiece, but there came a time when they charged for jams. I'm not sure if they still do so in other branches. But in the ATC branch, since we were regular customers, the waiters already know to give us strawberry and pineapple jams for our toasted bread every time we order, free of charge.

Perhaps among all branches of the restaurant, the one in Alabang Town Center really leaves a mark. And I'm not the only one with this opinion. Their food is great and their service is excellent. A couple of the waiters have been there since I was a kid, and now that I have kids, they're quite amused at still seeing me frequent the place for some good old spaghetti. Pancake House is truly a home of comfort food, dedicated to serving delicious meals to families for generations to come.

Pancake House is definitely one of those non-negotiable classics.

The classic buttermilk pancakes with whipped butter (just a wee drizzle of syrup for me!) is one of my comfort foods, as are the tacos and the chicken-asparagus sandwiches.
