A day for cupcakes...

The Mad Butter box

A special delivery of cupcakes was sent to our house one sunny morning. My little girl rushed out of her room to see what was inside the package. She smiled widely when she saw the cupcakes, and asked, "Is that for me, Mommy?"

"Yes, sweetheart," I answered, returning her smile, and she began jumping up and down, shouting "Yehey! Yehey!"

"But," I added, "Mommy has to take pictures of them first, okay?" She nodded her head vigorously, and proceeded to sit down quietly by the table where I laid down the boxes, her eyes opening slightly wider with each light blue box that I uncover.

Each box contained 6 cupcakes of different flavors so there was a dozen in total. You could imagine the twinkle in my little girl's eyes as she marveled at each cupcake before her.

There was the Liz Lemon which I expected to be zesty, but was a bit too sweet instead. The Earl had a very subtle hint of Earl Grey tea, more like a mere suggestion, while the Strawberry Mochi had these little yellow beads glinting in the sunlight.

The Choco Coke Float had this cute striped paper straw and a cherry on top, and I had hoped to get more of that soda flavor. If you have a sweet tooth and a penchant for those popular sweet spreads, Mr. Peanut and the Witch Hazelnut may be right up your alley.

Green tea addict? You might want to try the KitKat Matcha which has the flavor in its icing and a chocolate sponge cake beneath. Speaking of icing, the Snickers' was quite nice, too.

Four cupcakes were head and shoulders above the rest, at least for me. There's the Little Red Velvet which had a nicely balanced sweetness for the cream, and some pretty moist chocolate cake below. Not to be outshined was the Maltesers devoid of any cloying taste. The Bananas in Choco-jamas was reminiscent of banana bread with a nice swirl of chocolate cream. And last but not the least was the Peppermint Patty which even had mint choco chips peeking from the heap of green-hued frosting (I may be biased as I really have a penchant for mint and chocolates).

They still have other variants like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Vanilla the Rabbit, and Charlie Brownie. Prices are reasonable compared to the more popular ones. With a myriad of flavors to choose from, this could also be a nice Christmas gift to your cupcake aficionado friends.
